Prenatal care is necessary to ensure that both you and your baby are healthy. Dr. Eule educates her patients so that you have a clear understanding of what is going on. Knowing what to expect during your pregnancy will make you aware of any discomforts you may experience and will help you understand how your body is changing, both physically and emotionally. Learning the signs of labor and discussing your method of delivery are also important topics.
During your first appointment, you will be given a physical exam and blood tests. An ultrasound will be able to calculate your approximate due date. Dr. Eule will ask about your medical history, discuss your lifestyle habits and answer any questions you may have. This is a good time to bring up any medications you are currently taking. Generally, OTC medications are not recommended during pregnancy but your health care provider will be able to suggest what is best for you.
Through regular visits, your progress will be monitored for vitals such as weight gain, blood pressure, the baby’s growth, heartbeat and activity level. It is also a good idea to ask your doctor about prenatal vitamins. Additional screening can be done to test for infections, birth defects, or certain genetic disorders. As you near full term, the frequency of your exams will increase. Dr. Eule delivers at Sky Ridge Medical Center at I-25 and Lincoln, about 10 minutes from our office. If your surgery requires a hospital stay, we also use Sky Ridge.
By adhering to your scheduled prenatal care appointments, your doctor may be able to uncover any potential health issues or complications. You will then learn how this may affect the health of you and your baby. In certain situations, you may be referred to a specialist.
Staying informed throughout your pregnancy and receiving proper Prenatal Care is important to your health and the health of your unborn child. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Eule to learn more about how your pregnancy can be a happy and healthy experience.
